Expectations at associate level
- understand the different roles and responsibilities in your team
- work closely with the other designers and researchers on your team
- understand content design and research best practice
- show designs early and regularly
- aim to ‘Be agile’ rather than just ‘Do agile’, and understand the difference
- do not be afraid to ask for help and know who to ask
- know the types of work you should be doing in each phase of a project
Expectations at working level
- create opportunities to collaborate with all areas of your team (User centered design, delivery, software development, etc.)
- understand where the boundaries are between roles and make any crossover an opportunity
- break down barriers to help the team work more effectively together
- have confidence to bring a design mindset to the team
- help teams improve their agile working practices through honest retrospectives
- help the other roles in your team understand the value of design and what your role involves
Expectations at senior level
- collaborate at a strategic level with senior stakeholders to get the best possible outcomes for users and DWP
- encourage good working practices in teams
- help people to understand each other’s roles
- act as a mediator and be able to resolve conflict
