Expectations at associate level
- find a design buddy (someone you trust to show your work to regularly)
- know where to get help from other designers and don't be afraid to ask for it
- understand critique best practice
Expectations at working level
- be an advocate for user centred design
- set an example to those around you
- support other designers and share your experience
- offer your time to critique other designer’s work
- help stakeholders and other non-designers understand research and design decisions
- undergo assessment training and take part in departmental assessments
Expectations at senior level
- support and mentor others by passing on your experience
- take an active role in designers’ development. help them identify areas for self-improvement
- help them to meet or exceed the standards and expectations required of them
- take responsibility for the design output of dwp
- highlight areas for improvement in a constructive way
- work as a representative of the design profession with senior leaders in the department
